Sasha takes care of 750 unwanted dogs .. – this has never been his dream - but the dogs are there, waiting for food, waiting for help.. every day..again. The dogs are kept in packs, they run free for 8 hours per day, they eat, rest and play together. They are safe. Safe from the dangers of the street and humans. We help them with food and basic medication. We also run a sterilization program and try to improve care for the old and weaker dogs and abandoned pups.
In the south of Serbia, One man takes care of 750 unwanted dogs. The dogs run free for 8 hours per day, eat, play, sleep free. During the night they stay in enclosures. Sasha cannot do this alone. He gets 0 support from Government, and depends totally on supporters. Our Belgian Charity Dog Happiness Be vzw supports the shelter with medication ; extra food ; sterilisation project ; infrastructure, sterilisations, doghouses...

You may have already heard — but just in case: 250 of Sasha’s dogs are facing eviction.

After 17 years of rescuing abandoned dogs in Serbia, the city has rezoned the land where many of them live. If we don’t act quickly, they’ll be confiscated and sent to public shelters, where dogs are kept in overcrowded cages, barely fed, exposed to disease and violence.
We can’t let this happen.
And thanks to you — we’ve started to fight back.
*Shelter Construction Update*
We’ve taken the first steps to build a new safe place:
✅ Land survey is done
The first area is being cleared for fencing — a huge and urgent expense.
But this is just the beginning. The new land has no fences, no water, no electricity, no shelter. Just empty ground — and 250 dogs who desperately need protection.
The estimated cost for Phase 1: €25,000
A sponsor is contributing €8,000
➡️ We still need €17,000
A large amount, yes. But together, we believe we can reach it. Every euro helps.
Next steps we have to tackle:
– ️ Fencing the land
– Laying foundations and concrete
– Building night kennels
– Water access & supply system

I'm thrilled to share some exciting news about our winter wood fundraising campaign (https://www.gofundme.com/f/winter-wood-for-sashas-dogs) for Sasha's dogs - we have reached 86% of our goal!
Thanks to our supporters' incredible generosity, we're already providing warmth for our furry friends as the cold weather sets in. It's heartwarming to see the dogs, especially our seniors, gathering around the warm stoves, finding comfort from the bitter cold.
For those who may not know, we need 60 cubic meters of wood to keep our 700+ dogs warm throughout the winter months. With 86% of our goal reached, we're so close to ensuring their warmth for the entire winter season. The sight of our short-haired residents huddling near the heat sources reminds us just how crucial this basic necessity is for their wellbeing.
