Did you know that more than 300,000 babies worldwide are born with a condition you may have never heard of? Spina Bifida is a neural tube defect; in mild cases, permanent loss of some sensation or movement occurs. Severe cases include paralysis and varying degrees of loss of bowel and bladder control, and Hydrocephalus (accumulation of fluid in the brain) is a common complication accompanying Spina Bifida. Children born with Spina Bifida face many lifetime health issues and surgeries.
The mission of the International Federation for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus is to improve the quality of life of people with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus and their families and to reduce the incidence of neural tube defects and Hydrocephalus by primary prevention by raising awareness, and through political advocacy, research, community building and human rights education. IF is dedicated to helping create a society that guarantees persons with SBH enjoy the highest attainable standard of health without discrimination based on disability. Your donations can make meaningful difference for our lives and our families worldwide!
