"La Casa de las Estrellas" is an Animal Sanctuary and Rescue Centre in Lanzarote where rescued animals are given a second chance. Since its foundation in 2020 more than 800 animals of all kinds have been cared for. There are currently around 200 in our care. Become a teamer to help us continue our work!

Se busca dueño… o agencia de viajes que explique esto.
A este señor lo encontramos en la montaña de Tenesar. Sí, sí… en la montaña. En medio de la nada. En agosto.
Porque ya sabemos que hay quien sigue pensando que un conejo doméstico, si lo sueltas en el campo, se pone inmediatamente las gafas de sol, busca unas zanahorias y empieza su nueva vida de conejo libre. ️
Pues no.
A este pequeño tuvimos que quitárselo de la boca a unos perros. Y eso fue solo una de las cosas que podían haberle pasado. Podía haber comido algo tóxico, morir de hambre o deshidratación, ser atacado por otro animal… o simplemente no saber qué hacer para sobrevivir.
Un conejo que ha nacido o vivido en una casa no se convierte en conejo salvaje por dejarlo en una montaña.
Y aquí viene la parte importante: queremos saber si alguien lo reconoce. Puede que alguien lo esté buscando y, sinceramente, esperamos que así sea.

Mientras tanto, él está a salvo con nosotros. Y seguramente pensando que para sus vacaciones de agosto había imaginado otro plan.
Los animales domésticos no necesitan que los “liberemos”. Necesitan que nos hagamos responsables de ellos. ❤️

We found this gentleman up in the mountains of Tenesar. Yes, really… in the mountains. In the middle of nowhere. In August.
Because we all know there are still people who think that if you release a pet rabbit into the countryside, it immediately puts on its sunglasses, finds some carrots and starts its new life as a free rabbit. ️
Well, no.
We had to rescue this little one from the mouth of some dogs. And that was just one of the things that could have happened to him. He could have eaten something toxic, died of hunger or dehydration, been attacked by another animal… or simply not known what to do to survive.
A rabbit that was born or has lived in a home does not become a wild rabbit just because you leave it in the mountains.
And here comes the important part: we would like to know if anyone recognizes him. Maybe someone is looking for him and, honestly, we really hope that is the case.

In the meantime, he is safe with us. And he is probably thinking that he had imagined a very different plan for his August holidays.
Domestic animals do not need us to “set them free.” They need us to take responsibility for them. ❤️
