I come from a place in Italy where dogs lives count for very little. Setters are even more vulnerable than other dogs because of their gentle nature. SOS Italian Setters’ objective is to rescue Italian Setters and find good homes for them. With annual registrations ranging from 10 to 20 thousand puppies, Italian breeders sometimes register more Setters than the rest of the world combined. A huge proportion of them end up as strays, in horrendous pounds or, even worse, tortured and dead. Only a few, are found, helped and adopted. I recuperate some of these dogs myself, test and treat them so they can travel to their new homes. I also help other volunteers in Southern Italy to bring these dogs to safety and take care of them while I look for a home for them. These funds will be used for vet bills which can be very high. Full blood tests when a dog is found cost EUR 350. And these tests are so critical to be able to offer the best possible care for the dogs. Thank you.
