The Banc dels Aliments Foundation is an independent, apolitical, non-denominational, and non-profit organization whose main objectives are to prevent food waste by recovering surplus food suitable for human consumption and to help alleviate the poverty situation of vulnerable people in our community by providing them with the recovered food. With sustainability and solidarity as key principles, the Banc dels Aliments of Barcelona distributed 15,600 tons of food in 2024 through the network of social entities, of which up to 60% were recovered food. These foods were distributed to 114,000 people in vulnerable situations in our community.
