An update for our wonderful Teamers on the lambs, after lots of TLC, love, medication and veterinary intervention the lambs are beginning to start tottering around. Winifred has worked out how to walk with her cast on her broken leg, Freya is still sadly critical, Gabriel remains struggling with diarrhoea, Gretel is sadly still borderline, and Iris has gained 300g, which is fantastic, but still a way to go as she’s so tiny. Heidi is doing well although smaller than the rest and Meredith’s doing really well, she doesn’t want to stop eating! This is just a small amount of the medication they need, which you’re teaming support helps us to provide, so thank you so much. We and the lambs really appreciate it.
More lambs have been saved - saved from the slaughter. All housed in our home and receiving vet care for being weak, dehydration and diarrhoea. Feeding at the sanctuary is a big task, as these lovely little babies learn to suckle from a bottle and some only able to drink small amounts in short stints, then try again. The first three are still a concern, therefore vet visits and 24 hour care is being given, but as they are so young all need that 24 hour care. Meet Heidi, she arrived yesterday as one of the 4 lambs from the second farm. She's very much on the small side, so she's under very watchful eye too. With your help we can offer these lambs a chance of survival and a peaceful, happy and healthy future, so thank you. We and the animals are very grateful.
These little beautiful babies have been saved, suffering from dehydration, diarrhoea and broken bones. Rescued and brought to the sanctuary, immediately received veterinary treatment and happy to say are doing very well. Thank you for your support, without you these stories wouldn't be possible.

To all our amazing Teamers. A great big thank you for your support, without you the beautiful animals - large and small, wouldn't have the sanctuary they need when they need it and life of peace, happiness and love they have so needed. Take Jack for insistance, dumped in a bin as a baby, nursed back to full health by his human parents and surrogate cow parent and look at him now- fully grown and wonderful! Thank you for helping to make these stories a reality for the animals at the Big V Sanctuary. You truly are amazing. If you'd like to help us more please share us to your family and friends. Thank you

Without you this would not be possible.
Hi, just wanted to thank everyone for their continued support for Big v sanctuary. For most of you I hope that €1 a month donation is small, but the impact on the sanctuary is larger than you realise. Having reliable income coming in month over month gives some stability to the sanctuary and a few less sleepless nights. thank you xxx
Hi, just an update on life at the sanctuary. Miranda and Jerome continue to battle health issues so have been head down concentrating on giving amazing care (as always) to the 150+ animals and therefore understandably neglecting social media and returning messages. They are sorry for being so quiet, and hope to be back on line soon keeping everyone up to date on the beautiful animals that they care for. Thank you for your continued support xxx
As the weather gets colder and stormier, at Big V we are making sure the animals have plenty of cosy options for resting and sleeping. Here you can see the one of the pot bellied families 'sharing' some shelter begrudgingly with Winston. The dent in the roof in the left hand side is courtesy of Annabel the other resident goat, her fondness for bouncing off roofs means this shelter will need repairing before long!
Jack says "Boop my Snoot"! He might be huge but he is just a grass puppy at heart!!
Jack is one of many of the rescued cows at Big V that your donation helps to look after - thank you xxx
What a fantastic 'action' photo of Blossom, one of a number of pigs that are living their best lives at Big V after a traumatic start in life. As you can see, she enjoys her food and is proof that even on a vegan diet you can get very large!! Your continued support helps keep her belly full, thank you xxx
And this is what she was enjoying! Happy Sunday everyone xxx
Here is a true action photo of the wonderful Blossom munching down on some fresh fruit and veggies! As per our last post, she is still feeling her age but living life to the full within the safety of the Big V Sanctuary. Thank you for helping us to keep her safe and sound xxx
Sorry we have been so quiet on here - it is not that we don't appreciate you, we confess that we have lost track of time and not realised how long it had been since we last posted. The photo is of our beloved Blossom, long time resident of Big V. She is suffering a bit with old age (aren't we all!) so we are making sure her home with us suits her changing needs and keeps her safe and comfortable. It is only through having regular support like Teaming that we can commit to her and our other 150+ residents. Thank you xxx
A tale of two cows
Bridget (front) and Penelope (back) came to the sanctuary last summer, two lucky survivors of a horrendous abuse case.
Bridget was so weak that she couldn't stand for more than 10 minutes at a time, and Penelope (whilst physically healthier) was the one who had been broken mentally by her experience.
Despite all our best efforts, Bridget sadly passed away last week at the age of 15. She was only with us for a short while but during that time she knew love, safety and comfort. Unfortunately we were unable to undo the impact that years of abuse did to her poor body, and she passed away peacefully in her barn with us by her side. The only comfort we can take is that she did not suffer in her death as most other cows do.
Penelope is fighting fit - literally. As she has gained in confidence and weight, she has become incredibly unpredictable and dangerous. She will randomly attack any human that comes near her, but we can't blame her as she has not known humans to be nice. We are currently caring for her at a safe distance, and hope she soon realises that all we want to give her is love and ginger cake xx
These two lovely ladies are Bridget at the front and Penelope at the back. Both have just joined Big v Sanctuary having been rescued from an awful neglect case. Their rehabilitation will be long and difficult, but they will be allowed to live out the rest of their natural lives under the care of the sanctuary. It is clear from their current health and mental state that they have never known any kindness from humans - your continued support is needed to cover the ongoing food, vet and equipment bills. If you visit Big V Sanctuary on facebook or instagram you can learn more about other ways to help the new residents. thank you x
Some of our lovely sheep to brighten your day! These cheeky ladies LOVE to have the occasional biscuit treat, and your continued monthly support helps us to make it happen - your donation may only be €1 a month, but it all adds up - thank you xx
Thank you to everyone that is supporting us. We are aware that some people are experiencing problems with making the payments and we are working with the site to resolve this xx
This is Blossom - she thought you might enjoy seeing her lovely pink nose to cheer you up on a dark and wet Saturday evening! She has a particular fondness for biscuits, and your wonderful monthly donations help feed her habit. Thank you! xx
