Another shocking case our team delt with was little Poppy. Found in Triana in a terrible condition, matted, dirty, fleas and ticks, no teeth, no chip, sore eyes, and a lump hanging down the size of an avocado. Estimated to be 10 years old. She was rushed as an emergency to the vets who treated her for fleas, carried out blood tests, xrays and scans. The vets confirmed her lump was a massive hernia and she also had a cyst on her ovaries. She had a very complex operation to remove the hernia and went from strength to strength thanks to her wonderful foster carers. Poppy is now adopted and enjoying life to the full. Poppy's vet bills were nearly 500 euros. She is just one of around 30+ dogs in our care.
