It has been a while since we were able to keep you updated on the 269 Animal Liberation' Sanctuary: we deeply apologise for it. We celebrate the crucial role you play in the life of the Sanctuary, and today we want to thank you warmly for your most precious commitment. The collective is going through a very challenging time, during which your solidarity is more necessary than ever.
Indeed, it has been more than 8 months since the former co-founder of 269 Animal Liberation' sanctuary has taken control of the site, infrastructures, and of the animals living there, using force and violence. Despite no longer being part of the collective as being dismissed from his co-president functions by an out of the ordinary general assembly composed of the association's members, despite being now devoid of any association mandate, and despite the authorities being aware of the situation, he continues to assert control over the sanctuary's grounds, preventing any member of the collective, even co-founder Tiphaine Lagarde, from caring for the animals.
We were finally able to access the sanctuary two weeks ago, and that was when we noticed that the animals are deprived of care. For example, there are numerous sheeps limping, curled up and lifeless hens, a dwarf pig hindered by overgrown hooves, the pig Sherildan with completely paralysed back legs dragging himself to move, and the dog Goliath also unable to get up, among others.
While waiting for the Justice to evict the ex co-founder, we will soon return to the sanctuary, with a veterinarian and under the protection of police officers, to provide veterinary care to those in need. Also, we are still financing the usual sanctuary's needs, while he pays for almost nothing. And once we can fully exercise our rights and manage the Sanctuary, there will be a lot to do, to try and mend the consequences of all this time without the medical care vital for these species weakened by genetic selection and by a history of exploitation.
Some of these needs will be addressed thanks to your contribution and solidarity. It is thanks to you that the sanctuary of the 269 Animal Liberation collective will be able to once again establish itself as a lasting, safe, and right place for the animals residing there.
