The MONA Foundation is fundamentally known for being the home of rescued chimpanzees, but 4 Barbary macaques that were victims of illegal trafficking also live in the center. In 2012, a research project has been initiated that aims to improve their well-being. The idea is to renew and build new structures in its exterior installation to increase their quality of life. Fundació MONA rescata primats que han estat artistes de circ,de televisió o, fins i tot, mascotes. Molts han patit llargs anys en absoluta solitud i condicions terribles.
