Syria is at a crucial turning point in its recent history after the fall of the Al-Assad regime, with many challenges still ahead. 14 years of conflict have left 7 mill. people internally displaced and 16 mill. in need of humanitarian assistance. With increasing movements of Syrian refugee families returning to the country with minimal resources, a critical socio-economic situation and a winter that further complicates the situation, immediate assistance is urgently needed to protect them.
Syria is currently experiencing a crucial turning point in its recent history after the fall of the Al-Assad regime, with many challenges still ahead. Nearly 14 years of conflict have left 7 million people internally displaced and 16 million people in need of humanitarian assistance. In the aftermath of recent events, one million people have been displaced, most of them women and children. In addition, since September, half a million people have crossed from Lebanon to escape Israel's bombardment. With an increasing number of Syrian refugee families returning to the country with minimal resources and winter further complicating the situation, immediate assistance is urgently needed to protect them. It is estimated that more than 8,000 additional emergency kits containing medicines, clean water, food and basic items are needed to be urgently distributed to the displaced. In addition, there is an urgent need for more shelters and repair of damaged houses.

- Desde septiembre, más de 500.000 personas refugiadas han retornado a Siria, 200.000 de ellas después de la caída del régimen de al-Assad.
- Casi 600.000 personas desplazadas internas en el país han regresado a sus hogares desde entonces.
- 7,4 millones de sirios continúan desplazados dentro de Siria y hay más de 6 millones de refugiados sirios en todo el mundo.
- ACNUR y sus socios están incrementando la ayuda humanitaria para responder a las enormes necesidades de las personas retornadas.

Según el último informe de Tendencias Globales de 2022 de ACNUR el 52% de las personas desplazadas a la fuerza en todo el mundo (108 millones) proceden de tres países: Siria, Ucrania y Afganistán.
